Davis Law Office, LLC was founded in 1994 by S.P. Davis, Sr., after having practiced law in the partnership of Davis and Singleton from October 1986-March 1994, where he served as senior partner. S.P. Davis, Sr., first opened and hung his shingle in October 1974 in the name of Davis Law Office and Legal Clinic, Inc., where he practiced solo from 1974-1986. During his thirty-six years of practice he has hired and trained many young lawyers. Davis Law Office, LLC has grown to be one of the most respected law firms in Shreveport, Louisiana. S.P. Davis, Sr., is licensed to practice law throughout the state of Louisiana in all state and federal courts. Finally, S.P. Davis, Sr., is licensed to practice law in the U.S. Supreme Court.

Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. was born and raised in the small north Louisiana town of Plain Dealing, Louisiana. He was raised in humble beginnings. His parents Lacy and Andrew Davis, Sr. were the best of parents who did not graduate from high school. His parents however believed that education was the key to their children’s success and always instilled in their children to be the best that they could be at whatever task. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. as a young teenager in high school picked and chopped cotton, plowed the fields with the family’s mule, and drove the family’s tractor. He worked as a construction laborer during the summer while attending college. S.P. Davis, Sr. is the first in his family to graduate from college. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. graduated from Carrie Martin High School, Plain Dealing, Louisiana in 1967, graduated from Southern University A&M College with a B.A. degree in Political Science in 1971 and graduated from The Southern University Law Center in May 1973 as the number one graduate. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. gives his academic and career success to God first and foremost then to his parents Lacy and Andrew Davis, Sr., his true role models and motivators and finally to his sisters and brothers for their help and support.
Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr., is not only a successful attorney, but he is an outstanding and distinguished retired Army Reserve Colonel. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. was commissioned as a 2Lt. in July 1971 and rose through the ranks as 1Lt., Captain, Major, Lt. Colonel and Colonel. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. achieved many firsts during his military career. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. is the first and only African-American to command the 3rd BN 379th Regiment, 4 Bde, 95th Div, formerly located in Bossier City, Louisiana. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. is the first African-American Army Reservist from Shreveport, Louisiana to attend and graduate from the prestigious U.S. Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. is the first African-American Army Reservist to obtain the rank of Colonel in Shreveport, Louisiana. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. is a trial lawyer warrior who fights for his clients. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. fights as hard for his clients as he would want a lawyer to fight for him if he was the client.
Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. has distinguished himself throughout his career as a highly respected litigator and fighter for justice. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr., represented City Councilman, Joe Shyne, in his 2006 bid to run for city councilman. The issue involved whether or not Councilman Shyne needed a gubernatorial pardon or a presidential pardon. The State District Court ruled against Councilman Shyne. After oral argument by Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr. the Louisiana Second Circuit Court of Appeal reversed the District Court and ruled in favor of Councilman Shyne. After oral argument by Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr., the Supreme Court of Louisiana agreed with Attorney Davis and Councilman Shyne holding that Councilman Shyne only needed a gubernatorial pardon to run for City Council. Attorney S.P. Davis, Sr., has tried and won the overwhelming majority of his civil and criminal trials.
